Rome and Carthage, Greece and Norman…
About an island where thousands of years of time are intertwined
A traveler's time travel record

The author of 『Travelogue of the United States with a Rental Car』 and 『Romantic Time Travel Around Italy』 has now arrived in Sicily and Malta.
The author, who began traveling around with a wanderlust that was embedded in his body, records every detail of his visits to unfamiliar lands.
『Romantic Time Travel Sicily, Malta』 is the story of Sicily and Malta, the sites of the struggle for Mediterranean hegemony between Rome and Carthage, and the constant historical tug-of-war between the great European powers.
I guarantee that as you walk alongside the author, who chose a free journey over a perfect one, and sometimes empathize with his complaints, you will immerse yourself in Sicily and Malta as depicted in the book, and the urge to travel will blossom within you.
As the reader turns the pages, they will encounter the views from Monreale Cathedral, the Sicilian atmosphere embedded in the old town's alleyways, and even the fascinating and long history that remains throughout the tourist attractions of this romantic island.

Into the book
There is a fountain in the Cathedral Square, and in the center of the fountain is a sculpture of an elephant carrying an obelisk on its back.
The obelisk is believed to have been brought from Egypt and reused in the 18th century by its designer, Giovanni Battista Vaccarini.
The obelisk has a blunt top and a cross attached to it.
This elephant statue is used as the official coat of arms of Catania, and the Catan people call it by the nickname Liotru.
Built in the 12th century during the Norman era, this cathedral was damaged by a major earthquake in 1693 and rebuilt in the Baroque style in the 18th century to a design by Giovanni Battista Baccarini.
The front façade has three tiers, each supported by decorative Corinthian columns.
In the center, Saint Agatha is decorated with an aura in the shape of the Rising Sun, which has always been a source of controversy between the Korean people and Japan.
At the main entrance, Paul and Peter, with anguished expressions, are guarding.
On the roof, there is also a saint holding a cross, but the cross has an extra crossbar, just like the one seen in the Christmas room.

It was past 6pm so I thought there was a mass going on so I told the nun and she told me to go in through the back door so I went in and participated in the mass for a bit and came out, but it turned out to be a wedding mass.
Leaving the incident behind, I went to the square of the cathedral above, where I saw that the cathedral was having mass.
The cathedral is located at the highest point in Mellieha, even higher than the place we looked down from earlier. The sunset view from here seems to show that the world can be beautiful even if it is not necessarily a sunset by the sea.
We finished our schedule for today by leaving behind a beautiful sunset.
Although it was later than usual, we had plenty of time to come down to the parking lot, and the people who had just been there and attended the wedding mass, the main characters of the wedding ceremony, were taking pictures.
I, too, took the liberty of asking permission to take photos of the newlyweds, celebrating their happiness.

I set the Erice parking lot as the target point, but I was not sure if I had been thinking about it and had set it wrongly to Sejesta, so I drove for a while. My wife said something was wrong, so I stopped in a safe area and checked, and she was right.
If you reset and start again, a distance that could have been covered in 25 minutes will take over an hour, and other schedules will be affected as time is wasted.
But what was worse was that I couldn't properly experience Erice yesterday because of the bad weather, and although the conditions this morning were a little better than yesterday, I couldn't see a clear view.
Thinking that was all we had, we made up for it with a tour of Erice Alley.
I decided to buy some cookies from the famous Grandma Maria's Cookie Shop here and try them out.
As it turned out the next day, my wife and I were horrified when we tried it.
