The birth of the Jogye Order's standard Korean Buddhist ritual texts,
[Jogye Order Standard Korean Thousand-Hand Sutra]

Buddhists invite the Buddha and Bodhisattva through rituals during various ceremonies, praise and respect them, and listen to the dharma.
Also, through prayer and devotions, we can relieve the pain of daily life and find peace of mind.
These Buddhist rituals contain the precious teachings of Buddha and past patriarchs.
However, because the content was delivered in Chinese characters, it was difficult for modern people, the 'Hangul generation', to listen, understand, and participate.
In particular, the frustration was even greater in cases where Buddhists recite the most, such as the [Heart Sutra] or the [Thousand Hands Sutra].
Even though there were cases where Korean ritual texts were transmitted, the content varied from temple to temple and from person to person, and the need for a unified Korean ritual text grew stronger by the day.
Since enacting the Ritual Law in 2009, the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism has been focusing on translating Buddhist ritual texts into Korean by forming a Ritual Committee.
As a result of these efforts, [Heart Sutra], [Chiljeongrye], and [Cheonsu Gyeong] came to fruition as the standard Korean ceremonial texts of the religious order.

The most frequently recited scripture among Buddhists, the [Thousand-Hand Sutra]

[The Thousand-Hand Sutra] is the sutra most recited by Buddhists.
As a ritual to purify and adorn the temple, [Thousand-Hand Sutra] is recited without fail during Buddhist services and various Buddhist ceremonies.
The main character of this sutra is the Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva.
Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is said to embrace all living beings with a thousand merciful eyes and arms, and so among the many Avalokitesvara Bodhisattvas, she possesses the greatest power of compassion.
The merit and value of reciting the [Thousand-Hand Sutra] are clearly revealed in the reason why the Thousand-Hand Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva preached the Thousand-Hand Dharani.
Here, the Thousand-Hand Dharani is also called the 'Great Compassion Mantra', and is said to be a Dharani that is vast and perfect and has no obstacles in practicing compassion.
It is said that he has special abilities in performing and that he can freely follow his mind.
So, the practice of praying to the Thousand-Hand Dharani is practiced in many temples today.
It is expected that the publication of this [Thousand-Hand Sutra] as a standard ritual text along with the [Seven-Jeongrye] and [Heart Sutra], which are other ritual texts that are frequently recited in Buddhism, will make the sutras more accessible and easier to access.
