Conclusion

Into the book
Our soul is seen as a palace made of diamond or crystal, with many chambers in it, just as there are many places in heaven (cf. John 14:2).
…What do you think the palace where the King, who is most powerful, most wise, most pure, and most blessed, finds his delights feels like? I don't know where to compare the wondrous beauty and the wondrous power of a single soul.

--- p.28~29

Knowing yourself is very important.
There is nothing more necessary in this world than humility, so I hope that even if you ascend to the highest heavens, you will never neglect this.
…When we look up to you, who are high and lofty, we see ourselves, who are low and humble, approaching you. When we look up to your purity, we see our own impurities. When we contemplate your humility, we see ourselves, who are far removed from humility.

--- p.46~47

The Lord does not look at the size of the work, but at the love with which it is done.
…the Lord will add our sacrifices to the sacrifice He offered to the Father on the cross, and He will see our hearts and make our works, however small, valuable.
--- p.378

Publisher's Review
The scent of timeless spirituality

"The Castle of the Soul" is a teaching on the stages of prayer and spirituality written directly for the Carmelite nuns by Saint Teresa of Jesus (1515-1582), a prominent mystic, Carmelite reformer, and doctor of the church in Christian history.
Based on his own experience, he likens the depths of the soul to a castle and divides them into seven palaces, explaining in detail the stages from self-awareness to the stage of spiritual marriage, which is the union of love with God.
The saint wrote this in 1577, five years before her death, and it can be seen that it almost completely reflects the saint's journey of prayer and spiritual life.

In Korea, the first edition was published in 1970 through the translation by the late Father Choi Min-sun, and it is a representative spiritual classic loved by many theological students, monks, and believers in the Korean Church as well as Carmelites.

This revised edition preserves the symbolism and value of being the first Korean translation, while preserving Father Choi Min-sun's poetic and elegant writing style as much as possible. Furthermore, expressions that are difficult to understand or have ambiguous meanings in modern times have been modified or explained for the convenience of readers.
