“Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.”
What does this mean? What should I do? What are some of the things I can do to demonstrate that I have a passion for God's kingdom and that I am seeking God's kingdom first?
To realize God's kingdom on earth, do I need to earn a position commensurate with my abilities and talents? No.
You must seek first the kingdom of God.
Should I give all my possessions to the poor?
no.
You must seek first the kingdom of God.
Should I proclaim Christian doctrine to the world?
no.
You must seek first the kingdom of God.
So then, in a sense, there's nothing I have to do, and nothing I can do within my own capabilities, right? That's right.
In a sense, there is nothing.
But in the most profound sense, you must make yourself nothing, become nothing before God, and learn to be silent.
In this silence there is a beginning, and that beginning is to seek first the kingdom of God.
So in a sense, one starts from the back and reaches the beginning.
It means that a person does not begin with the beginning, but rather reaches the beginning.
People start from the back.
The beginning is the art of silence.
Because silence, like nature, cannot be a technology.
In the most profound sense, this kind of silence, this silence before God, is the beginning of the fear of God.

This book is a translation of “Lilies of the Field and Birds of the Air,” published in 1849. The original title is “Lilien paa Marken og Fuglen under Himlen.”
Also, only in this reinforcement does the subtitle “Three Pious Strengthenings” appear.

This book consists of three chapters, and the story unfolds based on the story of birds and lilies in Matthew 6.
Among the works written under Kierkegaard's real name, there are a total of 13 separate discourses on birds and lilies.
There are three in 『Learn from Birds and Lilies』 published in 1847, seven in 『The Cares of the Stranger』 published in 1848, and three in this work 『Lilies of the Field and Birds of the Air』.
This is the last work on the subject of birds and lilies.
