Reading Jesus 4 Isaiah-Malachi (God Who Raises Again)
Reading Jesus 4 Isaiah-Malachi (God Who Raises Again)
Description
Book Introduction
Part 1 of Volume 4 of Reading Jesus, “Reading the Bible,” guides you through reading the entire Bible from Isaiah to Malachi in nine weeks.
Part 2, "Bible Lessons," examines the prophetic books and apocalyptic literature to examine God's message of judgment, which constantly warns Israel of all the evils they have committed, as they turn away from Him, and the message of restoration, in which Israel, seemingly without hope, will be reborn as God's people.
And we will examine how Jesus Christ fulfills all these promises and revelations, and what the “New Covenant” is, which unfolds the kingdom of God in a way that is completely different from before.
Part 3, 'Bible Sharing,' helps the community move forward together in prayer, worship, and life transformation based on the content of Bible reading and Bible classes.

Into the book
So who is this servant who suffers and yet reveals his glory? It is Jesus Christ.
Christ came to this earth as a servant for his people and took on the suffering they deserved.
For he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities.
Yet Jehovah was pleased that his Son should be wounded in this way, and he was satisfied with the outcome of his suffering as he bore the sins of his people.
Jesus endured the cross in contempt and shame, looking forward to the joy set before him.
What is that joy? It is the joy of seeing us.
It is the joy of being cleansed of the sins of all nations, languages, and tribes of the world and being restored to a new relationship with God through his suffering.
---From "Page 67, Chapter 1 Isaiah"

The future promised after the Babylonian exile was not simply a return to their original circumstances.
For a generation that was experiencing the curse of the covenant with their whole body due to their ancestors' and their own disobedience, the words, "If you live faithfully from now on, you will be blessed" would not have been of much comfort.
Rather, Jeremiah continues to speak of a new work of God that will change their very constitution, a tremendous work of God that is called the "New Covenant."

---From "Pages 101-102, Chapter 2, Jeremiah"

These bones represent the entire house of Israel, who now recognize the gravity of their situation.
They had no hope, and they felt cut off from the presence of God, the source of life.
But God does not contradict their thoughts that they are dead, but rather confirms their death even more clearly and assures them that there is hope for the future.
The reason their hope for the future is certain is not because they tried to rebuild the temple, but because God has decided to save them and rebuild the temple.

---From "Pages 141-142, Chapter 3 Ezekiel"

Daniel 7 shows that the image of Christ on the cross is not the end.
We still live in the age of the beast, and they are given power to rule, kill, and devour, even temporarily gaining victory over the saints.
But we don't live in their world forever.
There will surely come a day when wrongs will be righted.
The only hope we have left on that day is Jesus Christ.
Because He took upon Himself our sins as the 'Son of Man', possessing both perfect humanity and divinity.

---From "Page 184, Chapter 4: Apocalypse and Daniel"

Jesus will come as the new Israel, fulfill the perfect righteousness that Israel failed to achieve, and enter the temple in Jerusalem as the Lord of the temple (Malachi 3).
When He comes, we who fear Jehovah today, like Malachi's first audience, will rejoice like calves released from the stall and welcome the sun of righteousness with healing in its rays.
We become God's beloved children, and nothing in heaven or on earth will be able to separate us from that love.
---From "Page 213, Chapter 5, Minor Prophets"
