Believe God
Description
Book Introduction
“Axioms about the faith we must believe” Pastor Seongjun Koh, a UC Berkeley mathematics doctor, delivers a message to the MZ generation, a group of college students and young adults. Fascinating and definitive answers to questions about faith and the core themes of the Bible. I recommend this to these people - Those who want to know more about Christianity - Those who want to properly convey the gospel to those around them - Anyone confused about what I believe now? - Those who want to build a strong foundation of faith Faith is not about proving, it is about believing! Pastor Ko Sung-jun, author of "Destiny: God's Plan," holds a Ph.D. in mathematics and emphasizes that faith is not about proving, but believing. He presents the questions about faith and the core themes of the Bible in an exciting and fresh way. It also explains the core of Christianity, such as humanity, creation, sin, God, grace, salvation, and the gospel, in a way that even new believers can understand, and reminds us that humans are beings who cannot live a complete life without God, and that only through God can we live a complete life in accordance with the purpose of creation. I highly recommend this book to those just beginning their religious life, those who have been practicing for a long time but are still confused about what they believe, and those who want to learn more about Christianity and build a solid foundation for their faith. |

Into the book
The first sentence of the Bible, Genesis 1:1, begins with a grand declaration: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
It's not 'persuasion', it's 'declaration'.
The Bible says, “Therefore, because of this and that, God exists.
It doesn't start like, "You get it?"
The Bible takes for granted the existence of God and declares that God created heaven and earth.
--- p.41
To conclude, our lives are not just a series of comings and goings, but have a clear purpose.
The purpose is to ‘love and be loved.’
God created humans for loving relationships.
You and I were created to be loved by God, and we were created to love one another.
This is the 'reason for life' that the Bible talks about.
--- p.69
Because there is no right response to love other than love.
Religious life is not religion.
It's not even mandatory.
Religion and duty do not help our souls.
Rather, it only binds and kills our souls.
True faith is knowing that 'I am a being born to receive God's love' and enjoying it with gratitude.
--- p.83
God created man and gave him complete freedom.
You have given us the ability to choose freely and think freely.
He has guaranteed us a certain degree of freedom, even the freedom to reject God.
--- p.94
Human reason is not perfect.
There are many things that are incomprehensible and indefinable.
The concept of 'omnipotence', the ability to do whatever we want, is a fictitious concept created by our imperfect reasoning, and does not actually exist.
Is it really possible to fully explain the Creator God with such imperfect reason?
--- p.100
God lifts each person up and leads them to the new Garden of Eden.
In this new Garden of Eden stands a new tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
It is a cross.
And just as He did with the first human being, Adam, He demands the same thing from each of us.
It is to believe in the cross of Jesus Christ.
--- p.109
The reason is clear.
Life is boring and dull.
If you go down to the bottom of a life that seems to lack nothing, you can hear cries of hunger.
'Just a little more! Just a little more!' This is the sound of a black hole demanding a little more stimulation.
This 'great lack' of never-ending, never-ending eating drives people to extremes.
--- p.161
In this way, when a sin is committed, it inevitably causes some consequences and creates negative spiritual energy.
It's the energy of sin.
And just like energy in physics, the law of conservation of energy applies to this sin energy as well.
It never disappears or dies on its own.
The energy of guilt never goes away until it is completely consumed in the form of someone's 'suffering'.
--- p.178
So we call this 'original sin'.
Even if you want to stop, even if you try not to exploit, you can't.
Because the supply line was cut off.
The root of all sin lies here.
To turn away from God, to turn away from God, the source of supply, to cut off the supply line—this is the root of sin.
It's not 'persuasion', it's 'declaration'.

Publisher's Review
What does Christianity believe?
Why did I become a Christian and believe in God and creation?
There are things in this world that can be proven and things that must be believed.
The Bible does not explain creation.
Instead, it asks you to believe.
The Bible does not prove the existence of God.
Instead, it asks you to believe.
The Bible does not prove that Jesus Christ is God.
Instead, it asks you to believe.
Because these 'truths' are of such a nature that they cannot be proven true or false.
It is impossible to prove that God 'exists', but it is also impossible to prove that he 'does not exist'.
The same goes for creation or evolution.
These are all things that belong to the realm of ‘faith’ and ‘things that must be believed’.
And the Bible is honest from the beginning about this being a 'matter of faith.'
So how can we truly believe that the Bible's claims are true? This question is the beginning of a long story, and it's the reason I wrote this book.
Would you like to hear why I became a Christian and why I believe in God and creation? This book is for those who, like me, are curious.
I hope that everyone who reads this book will come to believe in God.
Also, for those who already believe in God, I hope this book will provide an opportunity to solidify the foundation of what we believe.
