Into the book
From then on, every Wednesday when I opened my eyes offline, the sound was always in an unexpected place.
A bar table with a bunch of strange men.
I opened my eyes while lying on the road wet with rain.
In front of the departure gate at Osaka International Airport in Japan (there were still three hours left before boarding).
The entrance to a house in Gyeongju with no empty rooms.
Jirisan Jangteomok Shelter.
It's a deserted house in the countryside where you can't even call a taxi on a rainy day.
Club bathrooms, bars, benches covered in filth… … .
Half of them were heavily intoxicated, and two or three times they opened their eyes to find that it was already Wednesday afternoon.
It was because Kang Ji-na switched souls right before falling asleep while drunk.
--- p.30~31
The laws that govern this world, which old-timers like President Choi still call “reality,” were simple.
Efforts are easily frustrated and earnest wishes are easily trampled.
Nothing lasts forever, and beauty is fleeting.
Even love must have an end.
--- p.57
An artificial intelligence with the face of a person who no longer exists in the world continued to make strange noises.
“Hyeonullim used the emergency bringing oil to escape from his shared body, and it has been 50 hours since he returned to the paradise system.
News of Hyunwoolim's death has been shared with six other bodymates, who will soon be assigned new bodies."
“I……died?”
Urim's heart pounded as he looked at the puddle of rainwater.
--- p.73
“I told you yesterday.
“This is a deal that is not good for you.” Kang I-run’s expression as he said this was calm and dry.
“What on earth do you want?” Ulrim muttered, his mouth full of popcorn.
Then, Kang I-run's low voice shook Ullim's anxious heart.
“Help me disappear from this world.”
--- p.162
"No? Mujae seems to be doing well in Yeoulsi. There's no reason to feel sorry for him."
“Then why?”
Ullim looked down at his toes once, then raised his head with a trembling breath and looked at Irun.
“Because you are there, Kang Irun.
“Because I want to be there every day you are.”
--- p.391
The sound of Eun-ri's snickering could be faintly heard.
Irun held the sound tightly, and the unceasing trembling was speaking to each other.
Even if our bodies are taken away and we lose our memories, you and I will undoubtedly recognize each other and love each other without fail.

Publisher's Review
A future where seven people share one body
A world of infinite imagination, exquisitely carved
"The Day You Are" depicts a future where the "Human Seven-Day System" is being implemented to solve problems such as environmental destruction and food shortages.
According to the human seven-part system, people use one body in rotation for each day of the week, and live in a virtual reality space called 'Paradise' for the remaining six days.
'Bodymates' who share the same body are chosen from people with similar personalities as much as possible, but there are exceptions.
This is the case of the main characters, Hyeonullim and Kang Ji-na, who are sworn enemies.
On Tuesdays, 'Hwain' Kang Ji-na, who uses her body, hands over her body to 'Suin' Hyeon-ul-lim in difficult situations every time.
The waking up is often when the person is so drunk that they can hardly walk properly, or when they wake up in a place like a rain-soaked street.
Kang Ji-na, who used to quickly solve the damage caused to Woollim with money, leaves a note saying that she has prepared a special gift for Woollim's birthday.
The sound raises questions.
“Why do you celebrate my birthday?
“Are we really that close?” (Page 25)
On the day of his twenty-second birthday, Ullim took over Kang Ji-na's body and opened his eyes to find himself in an unfamiliar place once again.
What can be seen in the blurry vision are people wearing diving suits.
Wake up on a yacht while night scuba diving, and find yourself being dragged into the sea by someone's hand.
The sound of the body struggling as it sinks into the deep water is urgently released from the dying body.
However, he eventually receives a death notice in the virtual reality 'paradise'.
“Hyeonullim used the emergency bringing oil to escape from his shared body, and it has been 50 hours since he returned to the paradise system.
News of Hyunwoolim's death has been shared with six other bodymates, who will soon be assigned new bodies."
“I... died?” (Page 73)
The idea of seven people sharing one body may seem strange at first, but as you follow the meticulously designed future landscape, you will naturally empathize with the novel's world and become immersed in it.
In particular, the setting that only those who have the financial means to pay the 'environmental burden' can have a complete body is a chilling reflection of the reality we face today.
The fact that we can change our bodies simply by using the memory data stored in our brains also makes us think about the physical properties of our bodies and our self-identity.
Although the novel is set in a future society, it poses vivid and colorful questions to those of us living in the present, and features exciting developments and twists.
“Because you are there.
“Because I want to be there every day you are.”
A story of love that transcends boundaries
After being told that he can no longer live in reality because he has lost his shared body, Ullim protests that Kang Ji-na killed him, but it is already too late.
Ullim embarks on an endless adventure to uncover the truth, and along the way meets his friend Irun, who went missing five years ago.
But he says he is just another person using Irun's body...
What is his true identity, and can Urim reveal the truth?
Echo's quest to regain his body is fraught with danger.
However, Urim overcomes the difficulties with the help of those who silently support him.
In contrast to Kang Ji-na's twisted love, Ulrim's love moves into a wider world while solidarizing with others who suffer within the seven-part human system.
Ullim believes in the possibility of love and makes choices that protect herself and her loved ones.
The sight of Urim taking the initiative to fight against oppression and solve the case provides a refreshing feeling of pleasure.
The strong courage and faith of Urim, who tries to transcend the barrier of the day of the week and reach 'the day you are on', are admirable.
Even if our bodies are taken away and we lose our memories, you and I will undoubtedly recognize each other and love each other without fail.

“I hope you’re prepared to get lost in his world.”
The birth of a writer who has captured the world's attention
Park So-young is a new writer who has garnered enthusiastic responses from domestic literary readers and is receiving attention worldwide.
In particular, 『Snowball』, which has been decided to be adapted into a video by CJ ENM, is also garnering much attention in the United States, where a translated version is scheduled to be published early next year, with reviews calling it “a dystopian thriller where ‘The Hunger Games’ meets ‘Squid Game’” (Entertainment Weekly).
"The Day You Are", which features a powerful narrative that stimulates a sense of adventure and curiosity, and a genre-specific pleasure, also garnered attention from advance review readers, production companies, and overseas publishers even before its publication.
“I hope you prepare to get lost in his world.
As Christa Marino (editor of The Maze Runner) recommends, “An unexpected twist awaits you,” it is time to immerse yourself in the world of limitless imagination that Park So-young portrays.
From the author's words
This book began with the imagination of lovers forced into the role of Romeo and Juliet in a world where barriers were created between each day of the week.
The storyline was replaced by a new story, but the keyword 'love' survived firmly.
Looking back at the email I sent to the editor back then, I wrote with great enthusiasm, “I don’t have a talent for romance, but I would like to try to include various love stories between people.” Fortunately, it turned out that way, which is amazing.
Although this novel may not be a genre that can be considered romance, I still believe it is a story about love.
