Book Introduction
Not only the works included in textbooks
A must-read for middle school students!
Thanks to the new curriculum that began in 2013, there are now 16 different Korean language textbooks.
This means that works that are learned at other schools may be passed over at our school without even hearing the title.
There are countless works that could appear on the math ability test, and the burden on students' minds only grows.
But there are always important works! This book, which features the most prominent works in 16 textbooks, as well as representative Korean short stories that middle school students should read even if they don't, has been carefully selected. With just one volume, "19 Korean Short Stories to Read Before Middle School," you can keep them close by and build your must-read list, from middle school students to high school students.

Publisher's Review
Middle school Korean is so complicated!
How should I prepare?
As the middle school curriculum is being reorganized, there are now 16 different types of Korean language textbooks.
In addition, the subject of 'Korean for Daily Life' was combined with 'Korean Language', and the format was changed to take six textbooks over three years without grade distinction.
Because the focus is on communication and integration with other subjects, it has become difficult to properly follow the curriculum content by only superficially understanding the text.
Students must possess a solid foundation in reading comprehension, understand the social, cultural, and historical background of a work, and possess the ability to creatively express opinions and discuss its meaning for the present.
This kind of comprehensive Korean language ability cannot be developed by reading only the textbooks that you learn at school.
To improve your Korean language skills, it is essential to read as many good literary works as possible, including those included in the other 15 textbooks, and to train yourself to question the content and think critically.
Reading comprehension and thinking skills that are solidly built like this will shine not only in middle school exams but also in high school exams and college entrance exams.
Especially in the College Scholastic Ability Test, where students must read passages in a short period of time, accurately grasp the core of the problem, and answer correctly, it is no exaggeration to say that reading comprehension and critical thinking skills are the basis for high scores.
Therefore, it is a good idea to read a lot of literary works during middle school when you have relatively more free time.
If you don't know what to read,
『Korean Short Stories 19』, all in one volume!
The 19 short stories selected by current teachers who have served on the National High School Academic Achievement Test committee are short stories with a clear theme and must-reads for young people living in the present era.
Because the full text is included without any omissions, there is no need to go through the hassle of searching for the work separately, and helpful explanations are provided for difficult words to help you better understand the content.
Additionally, after reading the entire work, we help students reconfirm the theme of the work through 'Thinking' and find answers to their own questions.
Through the representative works of Korea's leading authors, students will experience the joy of reading novels, experience another world within them, and become more mature.
Additionally, you will have the natural experience of your Korean language skills improving during this time.
