Description
Book Introduction
This book is a memoir of anti-communist investigations written by General Kim Chang-ryong (1916-1956), the commander of the Army Special Forces, a symbol of anti-communism in the Republic of Korea.
General Kim Chang-ryong, who lived an upright life in the field of counter-communism, dealing with communists all his life, recorded the anti-communist work he had done, categorizing it by major incident, on 1,600 sheets of 200-character manuscript paper.
These records were kept by General Kim Chang-ryong's widow, Mrs. Do Sang-won, after his death in 1956, and were published in book form in 2022, the 66th anniversary of his death, in accordance with the earnest wishes of his daughters, Kim Mi-kyung and Kim Mi-young.

This book is a record of the ROK Army's counterintelligence investigations, covering the period from the Japanese colonial period to before and after liberation, the founding of the Republic of Korea, and the period before and after the Korean War, and is also the history of anti-communism in the Republic of Korea.
This book begins with General Kim Chang-ryong's recollections of the time when he fought against communism during the Japanese colonial period.
General Kim Chang-ryong's fight against communism stemmed from his strong belief in liberal democracy and his strong distrust of communism.
From then on, he devoted himself to eradicating the communist forces.
In the process, he chose more scientific investigative methods rather than coercive or anti-human rights methods.
As a result, the Republic of Korea was solidified as a steadfast anti-communist nation that would not be shaken by communist invasion, and the national army was born as a reliable anti-communist force that could fight and defeat communism.
This book deals with the secret anti-communist history of General Kim Chang-ryong.

This book covers an important part of the modern history of the Republic of Korea, in which our country, our people, our military, and our soldiers, especially the special forces commanded by General Kim Chang-ryong, risked their lives fighting against North Korean communism amidst the chaos before and after the nation's founding 60 years ago, the pain of the fratricide of the Korean War, and the desperate national crisis of post-war division.
This period is undoubtedly an integral part of South Korea's modern history, one that cannot be separated from or denied.
In that respect, this record can be said to be the history of the anti-communist struggle of the Republic of Korea, the history of the anti-communist military of the national army, and the record of the special forces' counter-communist investigation.
