Into the book
If the portfolios of children I met in the US were three-dimensional, like 3D, the resumes of Korean children were somewhat flat, like 2D.
That wasn't the only problem.
The more I analyzed the entrance exam results of foreign language high school students, the more I realized that their results were not that good compared to the number of students who studied well.
Is it simply because I am an international student?
And then I asked myself:
Could it be that these children are working less hard than the children I met in America? But I couldn't reach that conclusion.
Rather, I thought that children in Korea were more intense in terms of the amount of studying and in all aspects.
So what was the problem?
---p.23
“Because it’s a top tier.
“Because it’s a top tier, the standards are different, and because it’s a top tier, the road to it is so difficult.”
Here, the category of top tier refers to when the goal is to be within the top 30 of the US university rankings, especially within the top 15.
These schools were rushing to get there. Even SAT prep schools were skeptical, saying the plan was impossible.
However, I shortened the test period to save time and focus more on my GPA.
Only when the curriculum-focused strategy produced synergy and incredible results did parents begin to understand.
---p.66
This student's consultation left a deep resonance.
Not only did it open up the possibility of admission to top tier universities, it also provided motivation and direction for the company to move forward.
A guideline was created to provide practical assistance and consulting services that deliver unconditional results to those who dream of studying abroad and those who wish to venture into the wider world.
Also, after actually helping many students, I realized that the difficulty of the entrance exam was not the information, but the process.
No matter how much material was created, distributed, and published as books, many people still had the same questions and difficulties.
If it's factual information, it's all over Google.
---p.96
But for Korean students, failure has become something they cannot avoid.
There is no time to fail and no opportunity to fail.
When on earth are you going to experience failure? Brainstorming with kids about college essays has shown me that so many kids have lived their lives without any ups and downs or major obstacles.
That in itself isn't a bad thing, but in some ways, I think the opportunities our children can experience are too limited.
---p.142
Self-concept is an essential part of becoming one of the 0.1% elite.
It refers to the concept of how you feel about yourself and what others think of you.
This is also closely linked to self-determination, which is the ability to choose something for oneself.
Many students who successfully survived the fierce battlefield of college entrance exams often listened to their inner voice rather than the voices of the world.
---p.179
When I do consulting, most of the time, the majors I want are within the top five.
They only look for majors that others say are promising.
And only challenge jobs that already exist.
I think this mindset itself is wrong.
We live in an era where even existing jobs are disappearing.
It can be said that preparing for one's future by focusing on a specific major or a specific career is not competitive.
Since there are so many people preparing like that, it's like I'm standing in line in a place where there's a long line on purpose.
That wasn't the only problem.
The more I analyzed the entrance exam results of foreign language high school students, the more I realized that their results were not that good compared to the number of students who studied well.

Publisher's Review
How much do you know about admission consulting?
Giving wings to students' dreams
Long-Term Admission Premium Consulting
What do you need to prepare to enter an Ivy League school? Top students begin speaking and taking classes in English early on to broaden their horizons.
They spare no time and effort to make the Ivy League not just a dream, but an achievable goal.
However, there are limits to managing grades and gathering entrance exam information as a student.
There is someone who has rolled up his sleeves to help those students get into college.
This is Lee Yeon-ha, the author of this book and a premium overseas entrance exam consulting expert.
The author was working in the United States as an admissions expert, but by chance, he started a consulting firm specializing in Korean high school admissions, and eventually became the CEO of a company.
He was saddened by the fact that the potential of Korean students was buried and not seen because of the educational environment created by adults, and he started to use his know-how, which led him to establish a company.
He became a CEO by chance, and through his hands, numerous elites were nurtured. He published this book to inform more parents and students about the importance of consulting.
The beginning of consulting is to break away from the adult prejudice that 'top elite students do well on their own and do not need much help.'
For students in their teenage years who are relatively inexperienced, the wide range of choices offered by top-tier universities can be detrimental.
Additionally, unlike in Korea, overseas entrance exams require not only excellent grades but also a unique essay, a rich school life, and a well-organized curriculum.
Overseas universities want students who have the drive to succeed in school life, so they require more documentation to prove it.
However, since Korean high schools are focused on grades and achievements, students cannot prepare for all of this on their own without the help of experts.
In reality, Koreans have high GPAs and SAT scores, but their Harvard University acceptance rate is falling every year, so students have no choice but to go to academies, study abroad centers, or consulting firms to supplement their grades.
Debunking the misconceptions and prejudices surrounding elite education.
It is not a service provided by experts
Student-driven driving force consulting
“But teacher, what exactly do you help me with?”
There are many consulting firms, but not many people know what services they provide.
Since the consulting itself is conducted through private information, it is not easy to promote it.
So, what exactly do college admissions consulting firms offer? In a general sense, consulting refers to in-depth consultation and assistance provided by experts in a field to clients.
For example, the author's admissions consulting services include a long-term admissions plan, which helps students develop a schedule for admission and strategies for each target school.
However, unfortunately, the Korean consulting industry has a poor perception of illegal and fraudulent consulting, as it is easy to detect them early.
Parents' reactions to college admissions consulting, which is mentioned alongside the issues of ghostwritten essays and award-winning manipulation by high-ranking children, are bound to be cold.
But real consulting isn't about a teacher creating something for you, it's about narrowing down your options by creating a plan that can be implemented over a long period of time.
The author focused on four things to conduct real consulting.
CEO Lee Yeon-ha's premium college entrance consulting mindset
First, do not do the work for your child, but help him with things he cannot do on his own.
Second, it helps develop careers that today's generation demands.
Third, we are faithful to our role as a consultant to achieve higher performance.
Fourth, we focus on long-term admission consulting.
It narrows the scope of making rational decisions from numerous options and important decisions, and prevents trial and error by notifying you in advance.
If you want to improve your schoolwork or test scores, we introduce strategies and other infrastructure that can help you, and help you plan and move efficiently so you don't waste time.
Connect your major and interests and develop a career path that suits you.
And it helps expand ideas and stories.
This is the attitude that premium admission consulting should pursue.
Our child dreams of becoming an elite
To a wider world, to a higher place
There are various college admissions consulting services, but why study abroad? The author argues that children need to go abroad to gain more opportunities and pursue their dreams.
Only about 1% of Google's content is in Korean.
No matter how bright your brain is, if you lack the ability to understand English, you will inevitably have a narrow perspective.
Additionally, they say that studying abroad is more necessary because of the limitations of Korean universities.
In the case of Korean universities, many are run like cram schools for certification or exam preparation, focusing on employment rather than academic significance.
Even if students want to study more deeply, they are unable to study as they expected because the curriculum has changed to focus on employment.
However, in the case of universities in the United States or other foreign countries, students can study and research more deeply in the subjects they want to study.
Considering the teaching methods that cannot be experienced at all in Korea and the classes taught by renowned professors from overseas, studying abroad seems like a natural choice.
"What path does my child want? What does my child really need?" Rather than dwelling on your own concerns, seeking expert advice can be a valuable resource.
Even if you have outstanding academic performance, you should not be deprived of the opportunity to advance in the wider world because you lost the information battle.
The 0.1% elite did not get to their positions on their own; they are rising higher thanks to the attention of adults and the strategies of experts.
