Travel, coffee addiction
Description
Book Introduction
Go on a journey, learn on the road
As the head of a domestic travel agency, writer Ryu Dong-gyu is inseparable from travel.
This book is the author's story of a city trip through coffee.
Each destination has a special theme, so even if you already know a city, you'll discover something new you've never seen before.
In the book, we look back on our lives on the streets of numerous cities.
You can feel a vague sense of longing and nostalgia on trips to Incheon, where you reminisce about your father, and Chuncheon, where you remember your first love.
The thoughts that come to mind while walking through the alleyways of Busan's Gamcheon Culture Village evoke sympathy from those who have experienced it and interest from those who are unfamiliar with it.
You can also get a glimpse of travel destinations that have always been there but have escaped the attention of many people, such as the multi-billion dollar artwork in front of the Cheonan Terminal.
It conveys the meaning of participation through humanistic reflections on life, not just information about travel destinations.

Drink coffee, think in it
These days, it's not hard to find a cafe on the street.
Coffee is a part of our lives.
But this isn't just a recent thing.
From the coffee served in hotels to the first Korean-owned coffee shop, Kakadu, to the instant coffee of the US military, to coffee shops and coffee bean specialty stores, coffee has been a part of our lives for quite some time.
"Drinking a cup of coffee is like drinking the lives of countless people." The author describes himself as a coffee novice, but he is an expert on coffee and learning about life from it.
It doesn't end with savoring the taste of coffee, but rather learning the life philosophy of a coffee master.
Coffee is no longer just a luxury food.
It is a kind of companion that allows you to enjoy and enjoy life.

Talking about life through travel and coffee
After the author became addicted to coffee, his travel destinations had to change as well.
I started looking for coffee houses that were rumored to be delicious or had a nice space.
As a result, the encounter between travel and coffee was captured in one book.
The travel destinations featured in the book provide detailed information on must-see attractions and famous foods, as well as anecdotes and history about the city.
In the coffee house chapters attached to each city, you can hear reviews of the taste, thoughts on the space, and even stories about life.
Sometimes, I learn about craftsmanship from Mr. Park Ichu's coffee, and the refill service at Coffeeist makes me think about consideration.
Let's go on a journey and slowly savor the story of life that begins with coffee.

Finding leisure in life begins right now.
Finding some leisure time in our busy and exhausting lives can feel like a burden.
But why not start with the smallest thing you can do right now?
You can do this by going to your favorite cafe right now and having a cup of coffee.
Of course, you can visit the wonderful coffee houses mentioned in the book, but you can also choose a city that interests you and take a short trip.
The content of this book is very familiar, like everyday scenes.
The travel and coffee introduced in the book are not that difficult.
It is a journey that anyone can enjoy, and coffee that anyone can savor.
The moment you open the book, you will begin to feel relaxed without having to think too hard about it.

Into the book
There are many adjectives that come to mind, such as "Lego Village" or "Machu Picchu of Korea," but when you look at the village, no particular image comes to mind.
It felt like looking at a huge, colorful painting.
Houses built close together have become a huge work of art.
A massive work of art created by the indigenous people who have lived here for generations, new residents who have come from outside the area, and meaningful artists.
Buildings that would have been nothing special if they had been left alone were reborn as one with beautiful colors.

I ordered a glass of Kenya AA.
There wasn't much of the sourness that is typical of African coffee.
I asked the teacher carefully and he said that people from Gyeongsang Province generally don't like sour tastes.
That's why we roast strongly when roasting.
The coffee seemed quite bitter, but I was satisfied because the aftertaste was so clean.
What can I say, this coffee really resembles you.
A taste like a scholar that can be felt from the appearance.
I was happy because it seemed to resemble the simple fragrance of plum blossoms.
- p.142 [Ulsan Coffee House Beanstock]

It is truly great to comfort someone.
When life gets tough and harsh, we long to hear a kind word from someone.
When people are feeling down, just looking at the sea can be a comfort to the mind.
The waves that roll in one after another, creating white foam, are pure white itself, as if telling us to live a clean life.
I admire the waves that rush in fiercely even though they know they will break into pieces.
Have I ever acted so fiercely that my whole body was about to break?

- p.167 [A trip to Gangneung, where the scent of pine trees and coffee blends]

Every time I see Jeju's long stone walls, I think of Kim Young-gap.
Jeju's stone walls and Kim Young-gap are similar.
What is the aesthetic of Jeju stone walls and Kim Young-gap? It is heartbreaking and painful, but it is also a place where any wind can be received with a broad heart.
It passes through all winds like transparent sunlight, in a state of impermanence that seems to exist but not exist.
What human being can truly accept everything, whether weak or strong, like the stone walls of Jeju?
The boldness and carelessness with which even the strong wind passes by as if it were nothing.
That may be why all the stone walls in Jeju are black.

- p.228 [Jeju Travel: The Black Dragon's Journey and the History of the Wind]

Whether it's coffee, grass, or people, the last moments of life leave behind the most powerful and noble scent.
What kind of scent will I leave behind when I die?
It's scary.
Even the smallest grass on the street and the scent of ground coffee that we have drunk countless times offer a sweet fragrance to humans, so how much more so to humans?
How can we live a life that is upright and fragrant?
