Children who learn about the world and develop their thinking through picture books
You will develop a strong inner self and deep thinking skills.

Developing literacy, creativity, thinking skills, and self-esteem
English picture book conversation method

Joyce Baek and Chloe, who have been role models for motherly English as English educators and mothers, have finally published a book filled with their long experience and know-how in English picture books.
The two authors, who have experienced 'connecting with the world' through picture books since childhood, point out that the goal of reading English picture books should not be simply to learn English.
Beyond learning English, we focus on the value of picture books as excellent nutrients for fostering the ability to see the world, deep thinking, and emotional stability.
The authors agree that the factor that most hinders learners' language acquisition in foreign language education is anxiety.
Anxiety and fear come first because you compare and evaluate your English skills with others.
However, picture books do not initially cause anxiety in learners.
For children, English should not be a world with correct answers, but rather a world where open answers are possible.
This way, children can maintain interest and curiosity in English and develop proper skills.

This book carefully selects 10 life attitudes and values that will serve as the foundation for children to develop their values as they live, and 20 picture books that fit those values.
This will serve as a good starting point for broad understanding and practice of topics necessary for future generations, such as universal human rights, cultural diversity, world peace, and global citizenship.
In addition, you can see a total of 100 curated books, including '80 books that are good to read together'.
In addition, it goes beyond simply reading and covering picture books, and includes a question and answer guide that fosters thinking, guiding children and parents to have quality conversations through picture books.
We have made it possible to learn useful vocabulary through example sentences, and we have made it easier and more fun to learn English through the 'Mom and Dad Games' that parents and children can play together.
Additionally, you can check the audio of Joyce and Chloe reading the book directly through a QR code, so for parents who find it difficult to read the English book themselves, it is a good idea to listen to the two authors' excellent reading together with their children.

Into the book
What is the essence of education? Rather than seeking answers solely in education itself, we should focus on the meaning of life and turn our gaze to the people we meet every day.
We need more imagination to figure out how to incorporate the essential meaning of English education into our daily lives.
Parents, educators, and local communities must actively support children to discover their own talents and goals.
We must constantly strive to provide a stage where children can experience endless possibilities.
Because that time and space do not appear magically in an instant.
What is the most realistic way for schools, families, and our society to continue?
---p.4

Emotional conversations with parents can help develop a sense of communication and an attitude of listening.
I hope that picture books can be used as a tool to spark a conversation full of curiosity between mothers and fathers, or primary caregivers and children, by sitting face to face and making eye contact.
Picture books also provide valuable nutrients for fostering literacy, which is crucial for lifelong learning, and collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and confidence, which are core competencies for future talent.
---p.5

Growing up in Canada as a child of immigrant parents who spoke little English, picture books were one of the few ways I was exposed to English outside of school.
At home, I listened to Disney stories every day on audio cassettes or recorded stories by my favorite author, Robert Munsch.
I can't tell you how excited I am on the days I have to go to the school library.
I especially enjoyed the times when the librarian read books out loud.
The librarian would select books with special themes, holidays, or cultural events celebrated in Canada, and I would leave the library with a stack of them and feel like I owned the world.
In those days, picture books were friends that helped me adapt to school life both linguistically and culturally.

---p.6

Parents' beliefs and values are naturally passed on to their children.
I hope that through picture books filled with stories of diverse people, children will develop a flexible perspective on the world, be able to have rich thoughts and emotions, and be able to freely express what's inside them.

Publisher's Review
Developing inner strength
Picture book conversation method

It is said that in many international schools, including Canada, it is common to discuss and teach using picture books.
Picture books are not only useful for children when they are young; their utility value increases as they get older.
This book recommends looking at picture books together when we need to explain to children events or issues happening around us.
If you discuss concepts or social phenomena that are difficult to explain to children through picture books that are at their eye level, the child will be able to absorb them much more naturally.
Picture books that foster proper values help children develop stronger and deeper attitudes and perspectives.
Not to mention improving your English skills.
The amount of knowledge can be increased through learning, but 'inner strength' and 'emotional stability' are not acquired in a short period of time by sitting alone and studying hard.

This book begins by fully looking into and respecting children's minds before teaching them English.
I hope that picture books can be used as a tool to create eye contact between parents and children and open the door to warm conversation, and that through the process of conversation, we can gain insight into the child's heart.
Through the process of understanding and embracing your child, you can build a stable relationship and a special bond.
If a child grows up in the arms of parents who read picture books aloud to him or her from a young age, his or her emotions will be sufficiently stable.
In the heart of such a child, there is a 'little library' of his or her own, filled with memories of choosing, reading, touching, and playing with books with his or her parents.
If you are exposed to books full of good messages from a young age, you will naturally develop an eye for choosing good books.
If you have your own book list that you've been building up for a long time, it will be a strong support during life's difficult times.
What if we created a space of wisdom for our children that they could turn to whenever they faced difficult or challenging situations?

I really want to pass this on to future generations.
10 Life Attitudes

Here are 10 values selected from this book for children who will grow up to be confident future generations.
1) Self-esteem and an attitude of accepting oneself as is, 2) Love for family, 3) Friendship and collaboration, 4) Sharing and consideration, 5) Creativity and problem-solving skills, 6) Manners and respect, 7) Boldness and courage, 8) Empathy and compassion, 9) Perseverance and grit, 10) Diversity and inclusion.
We can learn the wise attitude of acknowledging and accepting ourselves by watching Piggy, the main character of “I Like Me!”, who says, “My best friend is myself!”; we can realize the importance of consideration for others and sharing through best friends Gerald and Piggy in “Should I Share My Ice Cream?” who share ice cream on a hot summer day; and we can get a glimpse of politeness through the speech of the baby crocodile in “May I Please Have a Cookie?”
The picture book version of the novel "Wonder," which received attention for its artistic quality as a world-wide bestseller and was made into a movie to even greater acclaim, "We're All Wonders" will provide an opportunity to think about the "ordinariness" of "difference" and once again realize the prejudices in our society.
As such, we can see that this book has selected a wide range of important values that serve as the basis for children's formation of values.
Let's take a look at picture books that awaken children's curiosity and imagination with colorful and beautiful images, and even teach them important attitudes toward life.

It is said that the greatest legacy that parents can pass on to their children is 'habits'.
These days, children have as many schedules as adults and suffer from high levels of stress.
It is easy to lose focus and be distracted by digital media.
At times like these, let's read picture books together, which are good nutrients to help develop reading habits.
As you grow into an adult, the picture books you read with your parents will give you the strength to bear the weight of life.

If you're a wise parent who wants your children to have the right attitude toward life and a generous spirit, or if you're an adult who wants your children to grow into eminently admirable individuals, I hope you'll take the first step toward an English education that "opens even the heart" with this book.
