As we enter the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, artistic and emotional abilities have become key competencies.
At the same time, the role and necessity of art education have also increased, but art education in Korea continues without any significant changes.
Experts from various fields around the world argue that proper art education is essential for the development of all industries, but the necessity of art education is constantly being neglected.

A world where everything is recorded in numbers

Height, weight, grades, career...
The world likes to record everything in numbers.
However, values ​​such as courage, humanity, consideration, love, and understanding cannot be converted into numbers, and there are no objective indicators to judge them.
There are many more things in the world that we cannot see than what we can see.
The same goes for growth through art education.
We must understand that what changes the world and opens the door to a new era is not something as easily visible as numbers on a report card, but rather the boundless imagination that flows from a child's fingertips and the eyes of the soul that know how to see it.

'Artistic Balance', which is emerging as a new paradigm of art education in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, emphasizes balance, or harmony, among five areas: creation, thinking, emotion, experience, and expression.
These are the 'creative balance' of knowing how to look at the world from my own new perspective, the 'thinking balance' of knowing how to solve problems from various perspectives, the 'emotional balance' of knowing how to independently control the various emotions felt in life, the 'experience balance' of laying the foundation for growth based on various experiences, and the 'expressive balance' of knowing how to apply the various skills and inspirations gained from artistic activities to life to enrich life.
Just as our bodies need a balanced diet of the five major nutrients to stay healthy, children who possess a balanced diet of "Artistic Balance," the nutrients of our souls, can grow into leaders of the future society and "Directors of Life" who can proactively design their own lives.


The Magical Power of Art Education in Creating Life Directors

The various programs in this book are not simply aimed at improving children's drawing skills.
The goal is to cultivate talents with 'artistic balance', the ability to discover the beauty hidden in the world, and to develop them into 'life directors' who can design their lives subjectively without being swept away by the waves of time in a rapidly changing world.
Furthermore, the author cautiously hopes that this book will serve as a guide to art education so that art teachers and non-major teachers who are struggling in the field even now can teach art easily and enjoyably.
