Description
Book Introduction
'Why should we use the Constitution?'
The answer to this question is not easy, but some in our society are showing interest in the Constitution, such as through a movement to read the Constitution.
Why should ordinary citizens read and copy the Constitution? Is it because it conceals something profound we don't know about? Or is it because by following the Constitution, we gain real power? Modern nations each established their own constitutions following the revolution of sovereignty.
The constitution is the substance and symbol of a country.
Numerous laws are needed for the governing body to properly run the country and guarantee the basic rights of the people.
We are protected by laws and systems tightly woven under the name of the Constitution, and we pursue happiness without our dignity and values being compromised.
If only the constitution worked properly, everyone could live a life worthy of human dignity.
But as we go through life, we each learn through our own experiences that reality is different from our ideals.
The constitution and reality are bound to be different.
It is not because the Constitution holds a value more noble than reality, but because it is ultimately a valid means of understanding the world we live in as a national community.
If the Constitution suppresses individual freedom and rights, it must be revised.
If constitutional amendment helps to narrow the gap between the Constitution and reality, there is no reason to refuse it.
In this respect, as a citizen, it is very meaningful to carefully read the Constitution and try to follow it.
