The Beautiful Perils of Education
The Beautiful Perils of Education
Description
Book Introduction
This book formalizes post-modern education around the concept of "teaching" rather than "learning," and argues that such education should be understood as an education of weak existential power, rather than the strong metaphysical power of modern Enlightenment education.
Education is a practical task that must and cannot help but embrace the dimension of 'weakness'.
Because that 'weakness' is not the kind of problem that can be overcome or solved by us, but rather it is the very dimension that makes education what it is.

Thus, this book examines the weak dimensions of education across seven chapters, focusing on seven topics.
The themes are creativity, communication, teaching, learning, liberation, democracy, and educational literacy, respectively.
Two things stand out most from this view:
One is the proposal of a philosophy of teaching that counters the 'educationalization' and 'politics of learning' centered on the concept of learning as a new language of education.
Another is a critical reinterpretation of the concept of 'liberation', which has traditionally been considered a task of education in rationalistic modern education.
