“Is your younger sibling in Jeju Island right now?”
While giving a lecture on animal rights at a high school in Jeju Island, I was asked this question by a student.

We are disappointed every day and often discouraged, but we also laugh and sometimes laugh so hard that we can't breathe.
We largely agree on what we consider important and unimportant in life, can have meaningful conversations in areas where it's needed, and wholeheartedly support each other's path.
Moreover, if both parties want to live together, there is no need to put in much effort.
My sister and I decided to quietly push away what the world dictates and imposes.
There is no way a revolution will suddenly happen one day, and the world will not change overnight.
However, if you ask me if it is despair, I would like to answer that it is not necessarily so.
Because all changes are wriggling in the ‘between’.
You were the only one who believed in me when everyone else doubted me, and you were the only one who believed in me when I doubted myself.
I was four years younger than Park So-young, but we were true 'friends'.
Nothing exists before life, before life itself.
Art is art only when it can present this obvious proposition before our eyes.
I leave what Park So-young can do to Park So-young and just quietly do what I can.
We survived our precarious childhoods with the strength of two, and that is what keeps us going even now as we dedicate ourselves to animal rescue work.

After hearing Park So-young's story, I always thought of her wandering the streets alone.
In my imagination, she was always anxious and caring for animals.
My prejudiced image of her was a dry face, a hard expression, and the occasional helpless tears.
It felt like the confident and sophisticated older sister I was ten years ago had now spent half her life on the road.
Honestly, it was like that.
Three years after publishing 『The Work of Salvation』, author Park So-young said she wanted to write another book.
With her younger sister Park Soo-young.
I was secretly curious about the other tough life stories that were passed down like legends through Park So-young.
I was worried whether I would be able to swallow two chunks of meat, but since they were the ones who took action more than anyone else, I was ready to accept the truth of their story.
And a few months later, precious letters came to me.
When I first read 『Sister's Diary』, I felt a fortunate sadness.
It was fortunate that I was the one wandering the streets alone, my face drier, and the only thing I was sad about was the thirty bags of chicken breast in the fridge that I had to eat from now on.
She was still a confident and sophisticated older sister, and so was writer Park Soo-young.
To those who live every day to protect what they love, my prejudice was simply 'arrogance'.
They had each other.
Thanks to each other, we laugh, thanks to each other, we cry, thanks to each other, we write.
This book, written in that way, gave me many gifts.
The comfort that comes from knowing they have each other.

A small action that changes when a sliver of conscience comes into play.

Before becoming animal rescue activists, Park So-young was a journalist, and Park Soo-young was a former actress.
