Description
Book Introduction
To my daughter who loves the wisdom of insight gained from reading 2000 books over 20 years. Reading is said to be 'the act of finding a lost mind.' This is a quote from Mencius, and it is said to be the definition of reading that my father, the late Mr. Gu Bon-hyung, who I respected, liked the most. My father also wrote this at the very beginning of his reading diary and always kept it in mind. They say that you can't find your original mind just by reading books. But it seems that the less we read, the more we lose our good and wholesome nature. So I think the world is becoming more and more harsh and our hearts are suffering and hurting more. Physical pain or injury can be treated with medicine or medication. But the pain and wounds of the heart are difficult to heal. At this time, 'healing' that even provides psychological stability is needed. Consistent reading is also a path to continuous healing. It is the only way to obtain nourishment for the mind and heal oneself. I hope that the spouse my daughter meets in the future will find her lost heart through reading, become happy, and create a brighter world. |

Into the book
Powerful people don't move in groups.
It just leads the crowd.
When you are in a crowd, you can confuse your own strength with the group's strength.
Sometimes, I mistake the power of the crowd for my own power and try to show off.
But such people only truly realize their own strength the moment they leave the crowd.
You may even be unable to properly perform tasks that require you to do on your own.
Because someone else did those things.
The more you socialize with other people, the less objective your perspective becomes.
Because both I and others hide ourselves to look good to each other.
You need to take time alone to see yourself properly.
Being alone reduces noise.
Then you hear something.
Questions like, 'Who am I?' and 'What should I do?' will arise.
And the thought of it gives me strength to live.
Do you have time alone too?

In human relationships, there are times when the other person does not accept the honor and excellence you have.
If your words do not come from a place of genuine sincerity and love for others, even a few words can cause unnecessary jealousy and resentment.
The reason many people create unnecessary conflicts at classmate or friend gatherings is because they see the gatherings as an opportunity to show off their personal egos.

From "Guarding Your Mouth"
40% of worries never come true.
30% of worries are about things that have already happened.
22% of worries are minor concerns.
4% of our worries are about things we can't control.
4% of our worries are about things we can change.

Publisher's Review
What are books to busy modern people?
A place to rest a weary mind? A foundation for enlightenment and growth? We all know the benefits of reading.
But there is so little time to read books.
It's also hard to find books that will heal me.
Naturally, you become distant from books, and the barrier to developing a reading habit only gets higher.
This book contains the author's experience of reading about 100 books a year for 20 years.
From each book, I have compiled a paragraph of insightful, wise words.
Since the book is composed of short texts, such as one paragraph, there is no burden in reading time.
It's also good to carry around and read whenever you have time.
And, since the 40 articles include the author's explanations, it is easy to understand the content.
There are also spaces throughout the book where readers can write down their own thoughts.
It provokes the reader's thoughts while also giving them the opportunity to compare their thoughts with the author's.
The habit of writing down your thoughts while reading a book is a bonus.
Professor Kim Nan-do of Seoul National University, author of “It Hurts, It’s Youth,” commented, “This book contains insights into our lives through over 300 famous works from the East and the West.”
With just one book, you can gain insight from reading over 300 books without any burden.
