이 책은 외국인들이 훈민정음의 창제 원리를 정확하게 이해하면서 쉽게 한글을 익힐 수 있는 한글 교재이다.
이 한글 학습 교재의 특징은 훈민정음 창제 원리에 따라 자음은 ‘ㄱㅋㄴㄷㅌㄹㅁㅂㅍㅅㅈㅊㅇㅎ’ 순서로, 모음은 ㅡㅣㅗㅜㅏㅓㅛㅠㅑㅕ순서로 익힌다는 점으로 기존 교재들과 큰 차이점이 있다.

우리가 ‘ㄱㄴㄷㄹㅁㅂㅅ’ 순으로 한글을 배우고 있는 것은 “1446년 간행된 《훈민정음》을 따른 것이 아니다.
1527년 최세진이 펴낸 어린이용 한자 학습서인 훈몽자회에서 초성과 종성 모두에 쓰이는 자음은 ‘ㄱㄴㄷㄹㅁㅂㅅㅇ’을 먼저 제시하면서 그 순서가 그대로 굳어졌기 때문이다.

그래서 이 교재는 세종대왕이 훈민정음 창제 당시 뜻 그대로 한글을 학습하는 것을 목표로 하여 세계 최고의 과학 문자 체계인 한글을 쉽고 빠르게 학습할 수 있다.

The fact that we nowlearn Hangeul in the order of ‘ㄱㄴㄷㄹㅁㅂㅅ’ does not follow the Hunminjeongeum published in 1446 but does Hunmongjahoe, a Chinese character study book for children published by Choi Se-jin in 1527 in which the consonants used in both initial and final consonants were first presented as ‘ㄱㄴㄷㄹㅁㅂㅅㅇ’.
